Movie Review: Ticket To Paradise
When last did these legendary actors grace our screens? It’s been years since the Oceans franchise hit our screens, and they haven’t lost their spark.
Weeks after graduating from college, Lily Cotton goes on a vacation to Bali. the vacation turns to a marriage ceremony as she falls for Balinese indigene, Gede. All goes fine until she invites her divorced parents Georgina and David who pretend to be supportive, but are sneakily planning to sabotage the entire thing.
See you again, never.
Hopefully not that soon.
We used to be married.
The worst 19 years of my life.
We were married for five.
I’m counting recovery.
She left the rings in her purse!
Definitely not an oceans thing to do.
Paul the boyfriend
It’s cute having someone who is agreeable, but when does cuteness cross into boredom? Do you truly want to spend your life with someone who’s a literal yes man? I doubt it. As much as we all seek an agreeable partner, he shouldn’t just say yes because it’s pleasing. Paul was all to pleasing, changing his answers to favour Georgina.
I do agree that he’s gorgeous with those blues eyes and French accent, but boy, bye. We pray you find someone better.
David and Georgina
David and Georgia are those divorced couples that look like they hate each other, but deep down just lack the basic communication to make it work. Listening to him recount the story about the house and it getting burnt down got me a bit emotional. It was obvious they didn’t talk things out, thus the unnecessary bickering.
I was quite glad to see Cloney and Roberts back on set. Their banter, tease, and flow has been missed.
The Marriage
I’ll be honest. I wouldn’t buy into the idea of my child getting married to a man she met 37 days ago. I would flip and maybe go overboard without feigning Trojan horse.
Make it make sense. Is 37 days enough? Isn’t that regular talking stage and getting to know each other? Why make such a dramatic decision because you’ve always felt trapped?
And before you come at me stating how those who even dated for years still divorced months later, hear me out.
Marriage is a serious covenant that shouldn’t be taken for granted or made on a whim. She didn’t even take the time to know herself.
Well, I won’t bother beating myself up about it. It’s her decision afterall. Funny thing is that it just might work out for both of them at last. Who knows?
The movie was predictable, obvi! I knew they would cave in and accept her wishes whilst finding a reason to be happy. Gede doesn’t seem like a bad guy. Learning Balinese would be cool, maybe. Maybe not. Haven’t gotten a hang of my German yet.
I enjoyed it. Of course the story is crazy, but hey, we’ve heard of crazier ones, like those who get married one day after knowing each other at Las Vegas.
Nice watch for fun only and laughs.
