Movie Review: Halloween Ends
I think we can all now say thank you to Jamie Lee Curtis for staying with us all these years and playing Laurie Strode, sister to Michael Myers and survivor to all his murder attempts.
Since the inception of the Halloween franchise, we’ve watched Laurie grow from an innocent baby to a badass grandma who lost a lot to the “bogeyman.”
With Halloween Ends, we finally say goodbye. (I hope).
Corey the babysitter
Babysitters often come with different personalities and Corey wasn’t an exception. The kids they babysit are either loving or ruthless, Jeremy was annoying.
Talk about freak accidents. What sort of stupid game was Jeremy playing? Don’t even try to tell me kids will be kids. I would have been livid had I been the babysitter, but then again, his accident was saddening.
Haddonfield.
How do people build and heal while remaining in an environment that caused the trauma?
Why didn’t they just leave the town? The trauma and death is already out of hand, so why stay? If you wanted a new life so bad, why not leave the area and start afresh?
The flirtation between Laurie and the police office at the grocery line was oddly sweet, only to be cut short by that lady.
Why doesn’t anyone ever leave the city? Really. I need some answers.
Sure, Corey. You just narrowly escaped being killed but rather than run you felt it better to examine the sewer. What sort of survivor instinct do you have, bruv?
Did Allyson know Corey before the hospital incident? The sudden love and need to repair was confusing. Give or take it all happened in 72 hours.
"All my memories are here,"
This is not enough reason to stay in a murder red zone. Pack up your grand ma and get the hell out of town.
"Just burn it all to the ground."
"I'll light the match."
It wasn’t isn’t love or affection. It was obsession and a need to fix and be fixed. Who would have thought Myers would get a protege so late in the game? Not me.
Doug was plain old stupid. You couldn’t get at him during the day so you crawled into a sewer at night.
Why did Laurie introduce Corey to her granddaughter? What was her reasoning? “Hey, let me merge these two guys who are semi outcasts and make them fall in love?”
The Bullys
Everyone has that share of those kids that are just stupidly taking out their insecurities on others. Those four, well, they had it coming. Okay, not all four, the blonde seemed to have compassion, but since she refused to cut ties early enough, she got booted. Literally!
What’s the sense in running in front of a moving vehicle? Shouldn’t the idea be to run away from its line of sight?
Willie the kid isn't coming back from this. Even if he survives, there's no tongue. Gruesome.
Allyson finally left. Happy for her. There’s so much more for her to experience.
The truth is evil doesn’t die. It changes shape.
This had better not be an idea for another movie. We’ve had enough.
Overall, it was just okay. I wouldn’t award it any jump scares, but it had a decent enough storyline.
