Old people are not always harmless, and someone had to learn the hard way!

Quick Recap

While facing the challenges of being an injured dancer, Terry finds a way to get back into the groove—at her own expense.

The Plot

This was an occult horror film with a cult doing their best to bring “their lord” into the world, and to do that, they needed a pawn. The idea isn’t entirely novel; I mean, it feels a lot like Immaculate without the convent. Also, it’s supposed to be a prequel to an oldie horror movie, Rosemary’s Baby (1968), which I haven’t seen but will try to give it a watch.

From the very moment I saw the old “loving” couple, I knew something was off. I've never been one to assume someone is nice just because they're older. In fact, I always feel it allows them to get away with all sorts of atrocities because no one would look at them twice.

Make it make sense.

A random couple found you half-passed out on the street and offered to house you for the night. After a fleeting conversation where you decide to share your life story with them, they offer you accommodation for free.

Really? They even go as far as mentioning other people they have helped. Why? Wait for it…

They have money and no kids to spend it on.

Uh. Thanks, but no thanks.

Real Life

Here’s the thing: Denzel Washington told Will Smith that the devil usually comes at your highest, and while that may be true, it tends to come at your most desperate, too.

She was desperate, and desperate people tend to be blind to the very obvious things around them. She was a good dancer who suffered from a severe injury—the worst kind for any dancer.

She got an infamous stage name and was living off her friend, whose roommate was already miffed about her presence. She was broke and hadn’t received any callbacks. She was disgraced and belittled on stage, and by the time she met them, she was on her way to sleep her way into a position. That’s what I call a truckload of desperation.

The Final Straw

It’s not every day that the victim realises there’s no way out of their predicament. As for her, she gave in and accepted that the only way to actually save herself was to find a permanent exit. Though, with twitching fingers, we never know if maybe the baby survived despite her attempt.

Overall, it was an okay watch. It was uncomfortably creepy, and I had my suspicions from the start, but I was curious to know what happened inside Apartment 7A. Now, I know.
