I like romcoms a lot but this felt off. It may just have been in my head or maybe I felt that way because I saw Nobody Wants This before seeing it, but no matter the reason, it just felt very off.

Quick Recap

After an encounter at a coffee shop, Bae and Ben connect but the connection is tainted when Bae overhears Ben talking down on her to his best friends. Years later, Bae’s sister and Ben’s best friend’s sister are set to wed and the two must find a way to put their differences behind throughout the wedding.

The Meeting

Helping out a person in need is truly admirable and cute. It felt romantic coming in and calling her “honey” and “wife” just to get her access to the loo. He also saved her the embarrassment of walking around with a tissue stuck to her heels.

I get why she felt that way with him, and the fact nothing happened between them that night was the icing on the cake. But she was engaged and while “we were on a break” may fly with Ross from Friends, it still sounded like cheating.

Not to be unromantic but what if he was a serial killer? I mean, going to someone’s house on a first meeting, first date arrangement is kind of a risk, don’t you think?

The Plot

The plot is templated down to the tee with a blend of confusion here and there. an ex-fiance trying to win his girl back and an ex-lover recognising she made a mistake. I wasn’t concerned about this but rather I wanted to see the chemistry that sparked the rumour of cheating which ultimately led to Glens’ relationship taking a hit.

I didn’t see it. The chemistry was not top-tier and it pains me to say that even Hallmark actors have way more chemistry than these two did. I didn’t have it in me to see their love story work. My heart wasn’t racing as she cried her way to the Opera House. The name-calling and verbal abuse were not just cool and how exactly do you say so many rude things to someone you claim to love and then take it back? Their sex scene? Well, so so.

It was definitely funny to watch — that I can agree, but the romantic part of it was not just there. A lot of the acting felt stiff or forced and so unrealistic. I really don’t know how to explain it but it was not what I was expecting. Maybe there’s something I missed or am ignoring but it has a very low rewatch value for me. I like Glen and he’s been blazing hot. The past three years have been top-tier for him as we’ve seen him take on the role of a pilot, a hurricane chaser, a hitman, and a lover. I’m itchy to see what he can do in a horror movie. Who knows?

Hey, there. If you love movies, animations and tv shows then you are in the right place. I review movies and animations wittily. P.S. I’m not a critic.
